In the forward problem we assumed a two-dimensional plane cutting the surface of the Earth, in which prisms with different values of conductivity are identified, and used to feed Maxwell ́s equations to yield the field on the surface. The problem instances we have used require discovering the conductivities at 70 rectangular underground patches, out of 20 measurements of the magnetic field on the surface, at 10 distinct frequencies.

An integrated model for multi-period fuel management and fire suppression preparedness planning in forests (Appreciated as the best paper of 14th International Industrial Engineering Conference)
Wildfires are of the forest-related disasters caused by inhumane factors. Spreading of these fires is due to the increase of the density of flammable plants. Two important approaches to prevent this occurrence are fuel treatment and fire suppression resources preparedness. In this paper, a mixed integer programming model is proposed based on the covering location and assignment problems which ...
متن کاملInverse Modeling in Geoenvironmental Engineering Using a Novel Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm
Algorithms derived by mimicking the nature are extremely useful for solving many real world problems in different engineering disciplines. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) especially has been greatly acknowledged for its simplicity and efficiency in obtaining good solutions for complex problems. However, premature convergence of the standard PSO and many of its variants is a downside particula...
متن کاملMultiresponse surface optimization via Harmony search algorithm (Quality Engineering Conference Paper)
Response surface methodology is a common tool in optimizing processes. It mainly concerns situations when there is only one response of interest. However, many designed experiments often involve simultaneous optimization of several quality characteristics. This is called a Multiresponse Surface Optimization problem. A common approach in dealing with these problems is to apply desirability funct...

متن کامل2D inversion of gravity data in bedrock identification (case study: a part of Qotrum plain in Yazd province)
Introduction The gravity method measures the vertical component of the acceleration at the Earth’s surface. The earth’s gravity field is affected by the density of different rocks and structures. Therefore, this method can be used in mineral exploration or studying the subsurface cavities and structures such as bedrocks, channels, and dikes. Inverse modeling is useful in understanding the p...
